Daha da dikkat ettik\u00e7e, olduk\u00e7a hikmetli bir faaliyet i\u00e7inde bir kudretin emareleri, eserleri ve her \u015feyin her halini ku\u015fatan engin bir ilmin cilveleri \u015fuurlu nazar\u0131m\u0131za \u00e7arp\u0131yor<\/em>.\u201d Bedi\u00fczzaman Said Nursi<sup> (1)<\/sup>.<br \/>\nD\u00fcnya sistem bilimi, yerk\u00fcrenin i\u015fleyi\u015fini inceleyen, nispeten yeni bir bilim dal\u0131. NASA\u2019n\u0131n 1983\u2019de D\u00fcnya Sistem Bilimleri Komitesi\u2019ni kurmas\u0131yla ortaya \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131. NASA bilim misyonunu a\u00e7\u0131klarken \u201cD\u00fcnya\u2019n\u0131n atmosferini, karalar\u0131n\u0131, okyanuslar\u0131n\u0131, buzlar\u0131n\u0131 ve canl\u0131lar\u0131 birbirine ba\u011fl\u0131, tek sistemin par\u00e7alar\u0131 olarak alg\u0131lamal\u0131y\u0131z\u201d diyor. D\u00fcnya sistemi, birbirleriyle karma\u015f\u0131k ili\u015fkileri olan \u00e7ok \u00e7e\u015fitli unsurlar\u0131 i\u00e7eriyor. Miami \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nden Prof. Eugene Rankey ve USRA\u2019dan (Universities Space Research Association) Martin Ruzek, Journal of Geoscience Education\u2019da yay\u0131mlanan makalelerinde \u015funlar\u0131 s\u00f6yl\u00fcyor: \u201c<em>Gezegenimizin \u015fartlar\u0131n\u0131 belirleyen ahenkli fiziksel, biyolojik, kimyasal s\u00fcre\u00e7leri anlatmak i\u00e7in senfoni benzetmesi kullan\u0131labilinir. Bir senfonide her aletin di\u011ferleriyle uyum i\u00e7inde \u00e7ok sesli m\u00fczik yapmas\u0131 gibi hava, su, karan\u0131n unsurlar\u0131 ve hayat ahenkle i\u015fleyen D\u00fcnya sistemini meydana getiriyor<\/em>.\u201d<sup>(2)<\/sup><br \/>\nMesela, D\u00fcnya atmosferindeki gazlar\u0131n oran\u0131n\u0131 de\u011fi\u015ftirebilecek bir\u00e7ok etken olmas\u0131na ra\u011fmen, atmosferin dengeli bir gaz kar\u015f\u0131m\u0131 var. Metan, CO2 gibi \u0131s\u0131y\u0131 atmosferde tutan sera gazlar\u0131n\u0131n etkisi olmasayd\u0131, d\u00fcnyan\u0131n ortalama s\u0131cakl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n eksi on sekiz derece olaca\u011f\u0131 hesaplan\u0131yor. Peki, bu gazlar fazla olsayd\u0131? Ven\u00fcs\u2019\u00fcn atmosferi y\u00fczde 96.5 karbondioksitten olu\u015fuyor;<sup>(3)<\/sup> ortalama y\u00fczey s\u0131cakl\u0131\u011f\u0131 yakla\u015f\u0131k 460 derece.<sup>(4)<\/sup> D\u00fcnya\u2019n\u0131n atmosferindeki karbondioksit oran\u0131 y\u00fczde 0,036 civar\u0131ndayken, karbondioksitten \u00e7ok daha g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc bir seragaz\u0131 olan metan\u0131n atmosferdeki oran\u0131 y\u00fczde 0,00017. Seragaz\u0131 nitr\u00f6z oksit, karbondioksitten yakla\u015f\u0131k \u00fc\u00e7 y\u00fcz kat daha g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc ama, atmosferdeki oran\u0131 metan\u0131nkinden de d\u00fc\u015f\u00fck: Y\u00fczde 0,00003.<sup>(5)<\/sup><br \/>\nD\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcn ki, yanarda\u011flardan \u00e7\u0131kan SO2\u2019nin bile havadaki metana etkisi var. Yanarda\u011f patlamalar\u0131yla a\u00e7\u0131\u011fa \u00e7\u0131kan SO2, metan \u00fcreten bakterilerin \u00e7o\u011falmas\u0131n\u0131 engelliyor ve atmosferdeki oran\u0131n\u0131n d\u00fc\u015fmesine neden oluyor. Baz\u0131 bakteriler ise metanla besleniyor. Yeni Zelanda\u2019n\u0131n Rotorua kenti yak\u0131n\u0131ndaki jeotermal alanda bu \u00f6zellikte bakteriler ke\u015ffedildi.<sup>(6)<\/sup>Yanarda\u011f patlamalar\u0131, bitkisel planktonlar\u0131 demirle besleyip daha \u00e7ok \u00fcremelerine yol a\u00e7arak atmosferdeki karbondioksit miktar\u0131n\u0131 da dolayl\u0131 olarak etkiliyor. Da\u011f olu\u015fumlar\u0131 s\u0131ras\u0131nda y\u00fczeye \u00e7\u0131kan \u201ctaze\u201d kayalar\u0131n adeta bir s\u00fcnger gibi atmosferdeki karbondioksidi \u201cemdikleri\u201d uzun zamandan beri biliniyordu. G\u00fcney Kaliforniya \u00dcniversitesi\u2019nden yap\u0131lan a\u00e7\u0131klamada \u015fu ifadelere yer verildi: \u201c\u00d6n\u00fc al\u0131nmam\u0131\u015f olsayd\u0131 bu s\u00fcre\u00e7, Himalayalar gibi b\u00fcy\u00fck da\u011f s\u0131ralar\u0131n\u0131n olu\u015fumlar\u0131 s\u0131ras\u0131nda, birka\u00e7 milyon y\u0131l i\u00e7inde atmosferdeki karbondioksit seviyesini \u00f6yle azalt\u0131rd\u0131 ki, D\u00fcnya\u2019y\u0131 bitmeyen bir k\u0131\u015fa sokard\u0131. G\u00fcney Amerika\u2019n\u0131n bat\u0131 k\u0131y\u0131lar\u0131 boyunca uzanan, yakla\u015f\u0131k yedi bin kilometre uzunlu\u011fundaki And Da\u011flar\u0131\u2019ndaki kayalar\u0131 ara\u015ft\u0131ran Prof. West ve doktora \u00f6\u011frencisi Mark Torres, bu kayalar\u0131n kimyasal ayr\u0131\u015fma s\u00fcre\u00e7lerinin \u00f6nceden tahmin edildi\u011finden \u00e7ok daha fazla karbon a\u00e7\u0131\u011fa \u00e7\u0131kard\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 tespit etti.
